June Sale Report


Possibly one of the smallest quarterly fine sales in recent years at 572 lots nevertheless produced a most creditable £230,000 at Hartleys in Ilkley on June 17th.  The two main headlines to report are first that “desirable” and “furniture” are words that can genuinely be used in the same sentence, and secondly works by Harrogate painter Brian Shields (or “Braaq”) are still holding their price.

A Good Toy Sale Results


A total on the day of £80,000 was the satisfactory result at Hartleys six monthly dolls and collectors sale at Ilkley on April 25th.  The buy-in rate of only 12% unsold out of the 589 lots on offer was an indication of the depth of interest with so much of it via the internet these days.

Spring Sale Results March 25th Sale


The Spring Sale of Hartleys in Ilkley on March 25th produced what is now regarded as the norm in a wide range of results.  Interest in individual items was often either intense with an unexpected price resulting, or near enough nil producing a no-sale, and all with no way of predicting which way demand would go.  On the day there were thirty six lots sold for four figure sums and 23% by lot withdrawn unsold.
